5 Reasons to Love Christmas

Posted by

Have you ever wondered why people love Christmas so much? Or are you just curious what are other people’s favorites in Christmas season? Either or, in this post you can read reasons why I love Christmas.

1. Extra Holidays from School and Work

Most employers and schools offer you at least some days off. Isn’t that great to get to sleep a bit longer and just relax for couple of days in the middle of the darkest and coldest time?

I work part-time so I won’t get any days off from work but from school I’ll get 3 weeks off which is great. This offers me a possibility to sleep, work and relax. In my case it’s also great that I don’t have to travel to uni (which takes me like 10-20 hours a week).

2. Meeting Relatives and Spending Time with Loved Ones

You can finally have time off together with your family and loved ones. Enjoy it! Find out how are they, do something fun together, share all the lovely foods and Christmas time in general with your relatives to make it even better.

During Christmas time we usually go to my fiancees parents place and hang out with his family members and their and our dogs. It’s nice to have time with them without need to rush anywhere. Unfortunately my family is living quite far away and because of traffic jams we don’t usually go there but we can usually meet them at some weekend before or after Christmas season.

3. Gifts

There is nothing wrong if you still love gifts. They are wonderful and exciting. Also, shopping them can offer as big joy as getting them. I hope, you’ll get gifts you love!

Yep, I’m still that little girl who absolutely loves gifts. I love planning them (though every year I find out that I’m running out of money if I buy everything I’d want haha!), giving them and of course receiving them. It’s always exciting to guess what others have bought to me.

I started planning this year’s gifts at July while we were on a roadtrip around Europe. Haha – sun was shining, I was drinking a cold smoothie and planning Christmas gifts. 😀

4. Decorations and All the Light and Color They Bring

We had the tree in the middle of October. You can call me crazy if you want guys. But hey, it brings some nice and warm light to our home in the middle of the coldest and darkest time of the year. Especially in Finland winter is dark and cold – if I’d be living in somewhere warm I’d probably be fine doing decoration at early December.

In addition to the light, I love how the decorations offer some colors and make our home more cozy. My favorite is decorating the three with some colorful ornaments and little lights. The more ornaments the better. I think we have around 400 pieces for our three. …And probably I’ll buy some more when the sales come. 😀 I’ve actually told my fiancee that when we move abroad I want three things with me from our home: 1) my tech stuff (Mac, iPhone, etc), 2) Christmas ornaments and 3) Wine classes I collect.

5. All the Food

This is the one time of the year when you can eat all those delicious favorites without any stress or hurrying to gym. Just enjoy and take it easy!

Additionally, it’s superb that you don’t have to go grocery shopping for days and you can just be happily indoors and eat for couple days. Don’t get me wrong, I still am not eating too much or too unhealthy but it’s still relaxing that we don’t have to do any meal planning or shopping. 🙂

  2. There are so many reason to love Christmas that in the end we forget the main reason and the meaning of Christmas: Jesus was born to save us and to give us the chance to be the best version of ourselves!

  3. I love Christmas because it gives us the time to fly back to my home country and meet up with loved ones.
    Because of all the lights.
Because of the cosiness at home with candles.

And I hate it, because my daughter will be always missed with Christmas and it’s not fair to celebrate this without her…

Christmas has a unique element – that of Santa bringing gifts for being good through out the year. It is such a motivating thing for all children.
