Location ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆

This hotel located near the airport and some conference areas and other hotels. If you have to be somewhere nearby this hotel is a good option. The hotel also offers shuffle service to the airport for extra fee, additionally, there is some parking space for your car in front of the hotel.

In case you want to visit Oslo, I recommend renting a car because taxis are very expensive in Norway. Of course if you share a cab with some friends it is more reasonable but if traveling alone, I’d prefer a car.

Around the hotel there isn’t much to see. There is basically McDonald’s and other hotels and road and that’s it. We went running and found a beautiful lake near the hotel.

Breakfast ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

The hotel has 24/7 reception and gym room. They also have a restaurant and store. The restaurant is serving breakfast from really early to late morning, almost noon.

The reception staff was helpful and polite but not too friendly. Basically doing their work but not anything extra to surprise us as customers.

The restaurant staff was helpful and more friendly. I didn’t order any food but took a soda from there to test the service quality. Additionally, the restaurant served our breakfast which was delicious and there were plenty of healthy options available.

The breakfast buffet included bread, deli slices, salmon, oat meal, eggs in multiple forms, to different bacons, sausages, beans, yogurts, berries, fruits, croissants, coffee, tea, juice, water… everything necessary was there as couple different options. Healthy & delicious! Only downside was that some items were missing for like 30 minutes.

What comes to the interior the breakfast area and the restaurant were nice but the rest wasn’t as good. The rooms and corridors looked (and were) really old. The floor was making sounds and squeaks when walking.

The fitness room was the worst. There was one very old and broken treadmill (you can adjust speed because there isn’t buttons anymore). There was also one tower, one bike and some dumbbells. That was basically it and all this was in a very small hotel room, I think it was around 8m2 (90 square feet).

So, if you value good food and don’t mind some old things and not so good gym this hotel is probably a good go to for you. Fitness junkies needing that gym should probably skip this one.

Calm ★★★★★★★★☆☆

The room I had was a small double room for just myself. There was a king sized bed with a weird cap between the matresses. Otherwise the bed and the bedsheets were very comfy. In addition to the bed, there was two tables, chair and a cloth rack in the room. Additionally, I had my own bathroom with toilet, sink and shower.

The room was a bit old but everything worked properly and I think that the bathroom was the best part in cleanliness and it looked a bit newer than the other things in the room. There was shower products and a blow dryer available for free.

Overall

Overall ★★★★★★★☆☆☆

Scandic Gardermoen is pretty basic hotel with no big flaws (except the ”gym”) but no big wows either. Quite comfy sleep near airport and delicious breakfast were the best things about this hotel.
