Hotel Review: Skapo Apartments, Vilnius, Lithuania

Are you looking for a hotel that’s something personal and with a historic scenery? Something unique and very different compared to thousands of chain hotels? Do you also value a location in a walking distance to everything? Skapo Apartments, Vilnius is the answer to all these wishes.

Location

Location ★★★★★★★★★★

Skapo Apartments are located in the downtown Vilnius. The hotel was in a walking distance from everywhere. In Vilnius, you won’t need a car and it’s actually easier to walk around because the city is quite small and in the old town the streets are quite narrow.

This was an apartment hotel so no amenities like pools or spas available. Anyhow, in this hotel, you’ll have own fully equipped kitchen, big apartment and an interesting, old historical setting. The reception was taken care by a family, I think. They were mostly helpful and friendly to us, even though they did not speak very fluent English.

The speciality of this hotel is its historical scenery. The hotel building was built 1795 and it’s in national heritage register of Lithuania. This UNESCO protected building was opened for the public 2010. The hotel is filled with wood, thick old walls, and other interesting details from hundreds of years ago.

The rooms are little apartments with own patio, kitchen+living room area, bathroom and a sleeping loft. Everything is old, traditional Latvian style. This hotel sure was an experience. Not the most comfortable place to sleep or stay but for sure worth visiting and exploring for a night or two.

Other notes

There is plenty of restaurants, historic places and small shops nearby. In booking sites there was written that there is a parking area near the hotel. Actually, this meant that you can park our car with plenty of other cars to the small road in front of the hotel though it actually wasn’t meant for parking.

Skapo Apartments, Vilnius was an interesting and very unique hotel with an excellent location in downtown Vilnius. The service was friendly and nice, and it felt good to support a small business. We enjoyed being able to walk everywhere and having our own kitchen.

Would you like to visit Vilnius someday? Or have you already visited? Would this be your kind of stay?

    1. I know! Apart hotels are cool because you can have your own snacks and feel like home while traveling. And those usually save some money as well. 🙂 There is a lot more posts coming about our roadtrip (and because we’re also traveling at the moment there will be quite much travel posts about Europe soon haha), I hope you enjoy them! 😄

    1. That’s so true! I love cooking and having some own snack in there as well. Makes life so much easier haha 🙂 If you’re interested in Vilnius, you can quite easily get there from Tallin, at least with car it wasn’t too long drive and on the way you can stay night or two in Estonia and Latvia.

  5. I prefer hotels like this one that are more like an apartment. It always makes me feel more like a local in any area I visit — especially because I can prepare my own meals (which is a great way to save money too!).

  6. We definitely prefer apartment hotels while traveling. Having a kitchen is convenient and saves money and you don’t have to feel confined to a single room the whole time. Love it!

    1. True! It’s definitely a great thing to have more than just one room where to hangout. Feels a lot more cozy that way!

    1. Yes it is! We have mostly stayed in regular hotels which of course are nice too and can offer you things like spa and luxury. However, apart hotels are kind of more cozy and offer you a freedom to coop whenever and whatever you wish. 🙂

    1. Yes it is! And based on our experience in Europe apart hotels are usually 20-30% cheaper than regular ones in the same area 🙂
