I got nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award for 3rd time (read the old ones here: #1, #2). This time Chrissie from Boutiquefull nominated me for the award. I love getting and doing these so thank you so much Crissie! 🙂

The One Lovely Blog Award

So for those who don’t what is the One Lovely Blog Award, here’s the breakdown:

  • Thank the person that nominated you and leave a link to their blog
  • Post about the award
  • Share seven facts about yourself
  • Nominate at most 15 people
  • Let your nominees know that they’ve been nominated

7 Facts About Me

1. I’m quite addicted to fresh blueberries

I could eat an unlimited amount of fresh blueberries. I’m so happy that they import them here around the year. I guess I’m using more money on blueberries per week than on my lunches haha. But they are just too delicious!

2. I could use endless amount of phone storage and data

During last month my coworkers were using 5Gb of mobile data. Mine was somewhere around 45Gb haha! Also whatever storage I have at my phone I can fill it in a year. I used to have 128Gb iPhone 6+ in which I had 80Gb of photos and apps after 10 months. Now I have iPhone 6S+ with 64Gb and I am having a huge struggle to clear the memory all the time.

But luckily I’m getting my old 6+ back so that I can use it for some and blog and the another one will only be for work related stuff in future. 🙂 I hope 192Gb total will last for a year at least!

3. I got my driver’s license with a stick car but I have driven 99% automates

… And yesterday we had to change our car to a stick one for a week. I’m not quite sure can I drive to work myself with it haha!

4. I work with technology and reading bad blog posts about tech always makes me mad

I don’t read a lot of tech blogs because it wouldn’t feel like having nice spare time when thinking about work stuff on it. However, if I happen to read them I always become mad when the post is badly written, incorrect or even harmful for the customers understanding.

It’s great those blogs exist though! However, if you want to write a computer buying guide please understand first what is actually important and why. Then make it clear to your readers. If it’s meant to be a general guide for regular shopper don’t focus on weird things that really don’t matter or are too hard to compare (for example one folk wrote about buying a tablet and told that basically all things that matter are resolution and amount of cores in processor. How about using experience, operating system, etc?).

5. I’ve never been in Sweden

… But I’m going in three weeks. 🙂 And the ones who don’t know, Finland shares its western border with Sweden. So, I guess it should not have been that hard to go there within last 24 years.

6. We’re planning to get a poodle

I’ve been allergic to most animals for my whole life. I am allergic to about every animal which drops its hair around. Labradors, cats, rats – nope, I cannot deal with those more than a couple of hours. However, my brother’s hairless terrier and my relatives Spanish water dog haven’t caused me any symptoms.

We’re going to visit some poodle families soon and if I don’t get any symptoms we hope getting our own poodle puppy during 2017. Woof!

7. I’d love to turn this blog self-hosted

I don’t know that much about coding, or hosting my own blog. Anyhow, I’d love to monetize this so that I could create even better quality to you guys. I’d also love to do my very own design. I love the new, fresh look the blog has now but I’d love to change some features that I cannot in wordpress.com hosted blog.

I’m sure this must happen one day. Lately, I’ve started to get more and more willpower to transfer this to wordpress.org. Maybe someday soon I’ll take some time reading everything about being self-hosted and then I’ll do it. When I do that, I’ll be doing another makeover week with the theme of transferring to self-hosted how’s, why’s and when’s. 🙂

  1. What, you’ve never been to Sweden!? Oh my goodness that needs to be fixed right away hahah 😀 It’s a couple hour boat ride away, or one hour by plane 😀 thank you for nominating me, I’ll get right into it! 🙂

    1. Well, to be 100% honest I’ve technically been in Sweden for 35minutes when I change flights from Miami to Helsinki in Arlanda airport but I wouldn’t count that. Haha! But yes, I’m going to Sweden by boat with two of my friends this month so the issue will (finally become) fixed! 😀

  2. It was nice to read some unknown fact about yourself. I’ve got my driver licence with a stick car too :)) but I didn’t drive much this kind of cars. I could never imagine you work with technology, that came as a surprising fact.

    1. Automatic transmission cars are so much easier to drive! Yesterday I was trying that stick one and well, I didn’t kill anyone but it wasn’t too fun to be honest. And haha, yes, I have worked more or less as a professional in area of technology for last 5 years but because my employer doesn’t accept any employees to mention the company in their blogs without a huge legal process I have decided not to blog about anything job related. 🙂

  3. Oh gosh you should definitely go self hosted. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I have had to learn a lot about coding and HTML but whoever you host through will give you support. You can also get support from your plug in team. Take the leap.

    Ps. Blueberries. Yummy 😋

    1. I love doing this kind of posts too! It’s fun to pop out some random facts so that you guys can get to know me a little better. 🙂 I am really looking forward for both Sweden and getting the puppy! I’ll sure blog about both and tell you guys how everything is going. 🙂

  4. Thank you for nominating me!!! This is so cool! When you’re going to Sweden, will you come to Stockholm too? Let me know because I would love to meet you for a quick coffee if you have time. Would be just so much fun to meet up after seeing each other only online!! ❤

    1. You’re welcome, your blog is awesome so it was clear to me that I’ll nominate you! 🙂 This month I’m going to be in Stockholm for couple of ours with two of my friends. I would love to meet, but I think we’ll have quite busy schedules this time. I’ll let you know if I’m coming again at some point! ❤

  5. Hi! I just recently went to self-hosting myself. So I understand a lot of the trials and tribulations putting it all together. You do have a lot to think about when you are putting one together. Costs are a big thing. Congrats on the nomination. I know I have heard a bunch of people being nominated for these various awards but I always wonder how it happens and who votes on them. (P.S. I love fresh fruit too . . . all except cantaloupe.)

    1. Well, at the moment I’m blogging with wordpress.com business plan which is somewhere around $200-300 per year so I guess being self-hosted would actually have lower price tag. This way life is very easy though. All backups, support, etc. are done for me. However I know I must turn into self-hosted if I want to improve and turn this from a hobby to a career.

This award is actually going around blogosphere and every blogger nominated nominates others and those nominate some others, etc. These are completely different from some bigger awards with actual judges, votes, etc. I have never been nominated to anything like that but it would be nice though!

      1. Yeah that would be great. If you can afford the 300 I might stick with that, especially if you have access to yoast. With self hosting there are a lot of one time fees. But then long term you are not spending as much per year as certain costs are only one time fees. But you do have the hassle of doing a lot of work yourself.

      2. Well, yeah. The fact my life is usually super busy (last 3 years I’ve worked 40-70 hours a week + studied) is the main reason why I have this business plan. However, because of this I’m not allowed to plan the look of my page as I wish. Also, I don’t have access to things like yoast and google adsense. Most affiliates and own adds are also mostly banned.

These make it slightly harder to make an actual career around blogging. However, the fact that wordpress.com makes my life easier has been pretty much worth money. On the other hand, I’d be more likely to learn a lot more about social media and coding having a self hosted page. I really have to think which I prefer – more spare time or more flexibility and learning.

      3. I completely understand. I think you should do it if at all possible. I just understand time constraints make things difficult. Getting my blog up and running is like having a second full time job on top of the one I already have.

    1. Me neither! We’re looking for a perfect poodle buddy at the moment, I guess realistically we could get one during summer or fall 2017. I’ll sure blog (and Insta) about it as soon as the puppy is with us! 🙂

  6. I had to laugh at fact 2 as my husband thinks my data use is a bit out of control. I showed him your answer and he gasped! You’ve done me a favor here as I’m sure he’s seeing my piddling amounts (he’s not on social media and doesn’t blog) in a new light. And thank you for the nomination. That was very kind of you and I greatly appreciate the recognition. All best to you. 😊😊

    1. Haha! People are always quite shocked when seeing my data and memory use but hey, if you do your some with your phone it requires some data, right? 🙂 Again, you’re very welcome! I hope you have a great and blog-full spring Kellie!

  9. How much fun to learn a little more about you! Good girl for learning on a stick shift .. I’ve driven a manual transmission since my uncle taught me to drive at fourteen. In fact .. my husband said that was one of the reasons he fell in love with me. ps: Get the poodle. Having a dog has brought me so much joy

    1. I have three more days to learn to drive that manual. So far I’ve done fine but I’ve mostly driven during silent hours. It isn’t impossible to learn but automatic transmission is soooo much easier. 🙂 And yes, I have really been looking for the right puppy lately! I wish we’ll find it soon. I’m clad to hear you’ve enjoyed your dog! Happy Easter Alison! 🙂
