How a Bullet Journal Can Help You to Improve Your Life and Blog?

Posted by

Bullet Journal is an excellent tool to get your random thoughts organized and make something productive from them. Bullet Journal is also an amazing tool for improving your blog or life in general.

Getting things written down not only organize them but it also let’s your mind to relax and focus on things your doing instead of trying to remember things you should do or remember in future.

Bullet Journal in a Nutshell

The idea of bullet journal is kind of combine bullet point notes, to do lists and calendars. You can start writing your long time goals. Let’s say you list all bigger goals for year 2017 as a bullet pointed list. Then you’ll split those goals into monthly, weekly and daily goals.

You can also use some pages for writing or drawing ideas that you’ll do at some point when you have time. You can use your bullet journal to plan your entire life or just part of it. For example I’m using mine for my blogging related goals and improving my social. However doing a bullet journal for things like studies or work tasks would also be helpful for sure.

It’s very satisfying and addicting to get to mark things done. It’s also nice to see how much you’ve already achieved if you go weeks or months back to check all the tasks you’ve already done.

How Can a Bullet Journal Help You to Improve Your Life and Blog?

You can gather all the ideas in one place and actually remember them. Having things only in your mind might (and at some point will) cause some forgetting. Having things written down releases your memory capacity to other things and also keeps things organized in one place.

By planning your blog content in prior you can improve the quality of your content significantly. If you decide only a day before what you’ll post next day you might realize that you don’t have enough time to shoot and edit all the photos and write a killer content. If you have all planned and scheduled let’s say a week in prior it’s so much easier to find time to make it excellently.

It’s also fun and relaxing to have things organized and not always use technology. Even thought I love technology from mobiles to cameras and laptops it’s sometimes relaxing for your mind and eyes not to watch the screen but write with actually pen and paper sometimes.

My Experience of Using a Bullet Journal for Planning My Blog

I love ticking the boxes, so I love bullet journals. Lists and excels are my best friends I think there isn’t a thing I haven’t made a list (or some) of. If you’re a list enthusiast too, you’ll definitely fell in love with bullet journal. It’s easy, you can make it visually beautiful or simple – whichever you wish and it’ll satisfy your need to make lists and keep things organized.

After starting my bullet journal my posting has been more regular and I have stronger feeling than ever that I’m actually improving my content and networking more effectively than ever. It’s because bullet journal has helped me to manage my time better.

Give bullet journal a chance and let it surprise you! It only takes few minutes a day but it can change a lot!

PS. Remember to participate to The Grand New Beginning Giveaway (here) and win your own blog planning book or equipment for starting your own bullet journal! There is only one day left to participate! ❤

  1. I feel that the line “Give Bullet Journal a chance” is for me. Admittedly, I still do not use this due to some hesitations like being confused etc. But, a lot of people in my circle is into BuJo
especially starting last January. Thanks for explaining how it can help me in my blog as well. It makes me want to give it a try.

    1. Yes! Give it a try, at least for couple weeks or months at the beginning. If you like it keep going, if you don’t you at least know how is it. I’m quite sure that you’ll be surprised how good tool it actually is. 🙂

  2. For us we agree wholeheartedly on planning for one’s blog. Specifically the content. We have one theme – handprint stories which we put out once a week and another on random musings. We also have another series being worked on now. it might be ready in 5-6 months… If you notice, we schedule post ahead – well ahead! Probably because we are on the road (for work) or tied up late (night TCs and VCs), this leave us with little choice but to do it this way!

    1. Oh wow! I thought I’m early when I sometimes schedule posts for 2-4 weeks, especially if I know that I’ll be busy. In general I think it always good to have some posts ready and scheduled just in case, and of course planning makes it all easier. 🙂

      1. heheh…its not a competition! We do have quite some posts that are ready while others are in various stages of drafting. Especially when on the road, sometimes ideas for posts pop up…so yes a journal to help!

  3. I know people who are into bullet journaling as well. What I use is a blank weekly or monthly planner wherein I plot my tasks or things to accomplish. It’s easier to check the pending tasks when it’s listed individually.

  4. I have a number of friends who use a bullet journal and I must say they are having positive outcome and results in their life. I also read it somewhere too that science proved that writing things down always helps the human brain remember, relax, and focus. I’m gonna work on it too, I will!

  5. I have a journal in my mind when I write posts on my blog. In fact, I have to make that a habit especially when I am moving to posting less, but publishing longer posts (2000 to 3000) words. So, what I am saying here is that journal and making bullets not only helps us, the bloggers. But posts with a structure helps the readers read and understand better.

  6. I am definitely a person who loves making lists! It is so satisfying to check things off the list. I don’t usually make lists by hand because my handwriting is horrible and I sometimes can’t even read what I wrote later! But perhaps I will give it a try some day! I do agree that it’s relaxing to get away from the screen from time to time.

    1. Of course you could do something similar with computer but I think part of the idea is doing the process by hand. And take a break from screen time. I hope you give it a try and hopefully you can also read your notes. 🙂

  7. This will help me a lot since I got scattered thoughts. But I love writing a lot and making lists. Everyday, I make lists and just transfer them on my planner. Bullet journaling is something I can do on a daily basis.

  8. Read about bullet journal a month ago. Didnt give it a try, though. Now that I have read it again and seen how it is done, I may give it a try. Would want to have a more organized way of blogging. Thanks for the encouragement and you gave me one.

  9. I never thought of having a bullet point journal before. I do understand how it can be helpful not only in keeping up with the tasks of blogging but also with composing the actual article on the blog. I like ticking boxes myself but I don’t really like to compose them and write them down, haha. 🙂

    1. Writing can sometimes be very relaxing for you and your brain. I though understand that it might not be the most natural or best way to operate for everyone. Try for couple weeks and you’ll know if it works for you or not! 🙂

  10. Im not fond of writing down on paper. What I do is write the draft directly on my blog. I usually start with the titles and then save them. Sometimes I can get them done instantly especially if im on the mood for writing but when Im not, I usually just stare at them thinking nothing. I guess I should give this a try.

    1. Personally I use bullet journal mostly for planning when I write and what, it’s more like a tool for target setting and follow ups for me. When I write the actual post I often use my iPhone’s notes or Word in my Mac for that. But sure, you could use bullet journal for drafting too – which actually seems to be something many of my readers do! 🙂

  11. I use a bullet journal only when I am out and I think of a good topic to write about. I also use it when I travel so I don’t forget things I want to write about. On some other topics, I don’t do it at all. I agree though that with bullet journals your content will significantly improve because the careful planning would pay off.

    1. Earlier I basically did not plan that much. Sometimes that caused a week with no post. Or I might have a good text without photos or vice versa. For me bullet journaling has helped improving the quality of the content. But of course, we’re all different and it’s good that you’ve found your way to use bullet journaling and notes. 🙂

  12. I have a to do list kind of notebook, wherein it’s a daily basis though, indeed it’s really fulfilling if you checked the finished task. I write them in the notebook and transferred it on my excel file.

  13. I tried BuJo before and it served its purpose. It’s a really great way to summarize to do’s and goals and gives you a higher perspective of your day and what you need to be doing in a certain period. I’m more of a Creative Journaling type gal though, as I love daily planners and drawing my day, with accompanying lists and paragraphs. 🙂

  16. Ok, so basically you are encouraging me to organize my thoughts through the bullet journal. I guess, I need it more than any one else. My thoughts are random and wild. What I do like about your blog is the layout which is easy on the yes. Is this theme bullet journal?
