Having an excellent camera is crucial for blogging. To make your readers come back your content has to be high quality. To create some excellent content you need some writing and photographing skills and a good camera. When you’re starting a blog or updating the existing one you might want a new camera to boost your motivation.

 

Nowadays the best smartphones have excellent cameras that are suitable for basic photos for blog. As long as lighting is good (read: you’re shooting in daylight) and the target is not too challenging my iPhone can do excellent job. However using an SLR gives you more flexibility and you can make stunning photos anywhere, anytime.

 

For last seven years I’ve been shooting with my Canon EOS 550D (similar series to 700D). It’s an excellent partner for a blogger. It’s valuably priced and does mostly very good job. For blogging you don’t need extremely high resolutions because you’re readers will anyway be mostly using their mobiles or laptops anyway.

 

However if you are also taking photos that are supposed to be printed an SLR is a must. My old one was doing just fine but after a few years of thinking I decided to update to full frame SLR, Canon EOS 6D. This camera offers you higher resolution (excellent if you need to edit or crop the photos) but more importantly it’s doing better in extreme conditions like low light or rain (yep, it’s waterproof (if your lens is too)!).

 

I’m super exited to this addition to my family: it makes awesome photos, it’s not too heavy and it was the most affordably priced for my purposes (I’m not shooting a lot of video but I want to have print quality photos).

 

The timing for getting this new camera was quite excellent because I bought it right before starting this blog’s extreme makeover. Getting something new for blogging always offers some additional inspiration and motivates. I’ve been taking a lot more photos since getting this new camera!

I read that 6D doesn’t have to the best color (and that I should by Canon 5D Mark 3) but I think the color is good enough. Cannot stop loving the colors of this VS Sunrise package. f 1.8, 1/4000

I love this photo! The camera and the lens together created a beautiful bokeh (blurry soft background), also the auto focus did good work finding these little tree branches. f/1.8, 1/4000
